Training & Technical Assistance
PIRE utilizes its significant knowledge base to train and assist other organizations and groups to achieve their goals through effective public health and safety strategies. PIRE has a rich history of providing training and technical assistance to enable and enhance the implementation of policies, practices, and programs that can prevent problems and increase well-being.
A number of senior staff in PIRE's Calverton Center manage large-scale training and technical assistance initiatives. One was the Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. This project provided science-based, practical, and effective training and technical assistance to states, law enforcement agencies, and community groups that were working to reduce underage access to alcohol. Instructional materials, training, and technical assistance on best practices were provided in a variety of formats, including a website, teleconferences, and regional and national conferences.
